Training workshop on Foundations in Design Thinking for women entrepreneurs

Creative Innovative Unit in collaboration with ParwaneKhanum Welfare Organization successfully conducted a one-day workshop on design thinking in its office at Ali Tower on Wednesday. Around 22 deserving yet talented girls and women from Peshawar who have initiated their entrepreneurial start-ups in various fields including – computer literacy, beautician, fashion designing, and handicrafts arts attended the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, Project Director Bilal Jabbar shared that the unit has been recently established under the department of ST&IT with core objective to develop linkages between academia, researchers and industry. For this purpose, conducting trainings for capacity building of women can significantly enhance the credibility and acceptance of the women’s livelihoods skills in local economy which will further increase employment opportunities. Moreover, he asked the trainees to turn their innovative ideas into reality by using creative problem solving and Design thinking approach.

The Creative Innovative Unit aims to train at least 500 women entrepreneurs in KP in their newly launched program on digital empowerment of women. The Creative Innovative Unit plans to reach out to educational institutions to identify potential human resource, especially women to train and facilitate them with proper training in digital skills and modern technology. The digital skills program will equip girls and women with necessary knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to take maximum advantage of the opportunities available for freelancing, employment and entrepreneurship. The recently launched Digital Skills Program by CIU will offer varied courses on digital employability to women across KP which mainly includes Design thinking, Digital payment and Digital marketing, digital customer channels and digital finance.
